What a year STARS had in 2024!

What a year STARS had in 2024! On the organizational level, Sisters Transportation and Ride Share became its’ own entity. After the years of help with “getting on the road”, from Age Friendly Sisters Country. We formed our own board and fulfilled the requirements for non-profit status.

On the services provided accomplishments, our volunteer dispatchers booked 725 rides and our volunteer drivers drove about 32,350 miles! That’s a 33% increase in need and in fulfillment from the previous year. Speaking of volunteers, in 2024 we added ten new drivers, and one new dispatcher. Without new volunteers joining our organization, STARS would not have been able to increase the FREE rides given to our neighbors in Sisters Country. But wait…we aren’t done growing.

STARS provides safe, reliable and free rides to non-emergency medical appointments. We will always need more team members. As the population of our community grows, so will the number of folks who temporarily or permanently need rides. That means we will need more drivers and more dispatchers. If you are interested in volunteering to keep Sisters a livable, lovely community, please consider joining our team. With the growing needs in Sisters Country, we need folks who can drive passengers to non-emergency medical appointments, and those who would enjoy being a dispatcher from your home. STARS reimburses our drivers for their mileage. As a STARS volunteer you can choose to work as much or as little as you want. You always make your own schedule.
