    • A reliable vehicle

    • A current driver’s license

    • A good driving record

    • Car Insurance 100K/300K Bodily Injury Liability

    • A cell phone

  • A driver must:

    • Complete an online application where they will submit personal information and will agree to STARS:

    • Complete a two-hour training session on using STARS online ride acceptance software.

    • Pass a Background Check.

    • Create and maintain a secure online driver profile with name, address, telephone and email contact information.

    • Upload driver’s license and insurance information to a secure site and make sure it is current.

    • Training will cover all the details of being a STARS driver, but the general process works as follows:

      • Dispatchers book the rides gathering passenger name, address pick up date, time, appointment time, place, appointment duration, mobility issues and any other special information that will help the driver decide if they are a good person to take the ride.

      • STARS software broadcasts the need for rides to drivers via email.

      • Drivers use the email link or on their personal dashboards to accept a ride. 

      • Drivers call or text passengers to confirm ride details and the ride acceptance.

      • Drivers pick up and drop off passengers at home.

      • Drivers mark their ride as completed on their dashboards.

    • STARS will provide mileage reimbursements as funding is available.

    • STARS drivers may accept or decline mileage reimbursements when they apply to drive.

    • Drivers accepting reimbursements are required to sign a W9 Form that will be kept on file.

    • 1099s will be sent to drivers exceeding IRS reimbursement limits.
